Physical description
Medium-sized flax kit or bag. Made from one very fine, rectangular flax panel, folded in two and stitched together at the sides. The main decorative feature is a 10.5 cm wide band of black-dyed flax, interspersed with naturally-coloured flax to create patterns around a main diamond-shaped motif.. Above and below the band are equally-spaced 'bundles' of 7 (approx 2 cm long and 0.5 cm wide) strips of wood or hard flax-fibre, bound into the fabric of the kit as a secondary decorative feature.
The flax-fabric has a number of stains and small 'rust' marks visible.
The woven-flax handle has broken and some small holes in the fabric are visible, otherwise complete and intact.

Similar to bags from Santa Cruz, Solomon Islands made from banana plant leaves.
