Solidly made maori Taiaha fighting.
This particular example is modern ceremonial one with blunted ends.
This piece has a short paddle like blade of flattened oval cross section, which reaches about a third of the way down it's length, then runs into a long oval section handle terminating in a distinct finial. The wood has been finished in a dark hued stain but the grain is visible over most of the piece.
