Physical description
European style walking stick with a crook style handle. covered in Maori carving. There are eight stylised human faces, with mouths agape, protruding tongues and paua shell circles for the eyes along the main shaft and another on the end of the handle. The bottom of the stick has a thin metal boot to protect it. Overall the piece is a pale brown in colour, particularly around the handle, but traces of a red brown stain are also visible, while the carving of the faces has been highlighted with black pigment dusted into the cuts.
