Physical description
The skirt basically consists of a 2cm wide wasit band of woolen twine or woven flax, to which many 44cm long thin woven flax braids have been attached. Each flax braid is passed through three tiny flax tubes, spaced out at intervals along it's length. En masse, this technique creates bands of contrasting colour (dark chocolate brown, light yellow which are the main decorative feature of the skirt. Short tufts of flax are also woven into the bottom edge of the waist belt. A long twine draw string is also fitted to the waist belt.
